bad weekend. bad macs.

It has not been a good weekend. Nothing earth shattering... just not happy to its full extent :-\ I'm hoping that this week will make up for it.

I have orientation on Thursday and I am anxiously awaiting it! I'm so excited to get school in motion. Also, I'd like to point out that my trip to Toronto International Film Festival is only 4 1/2 weeks away!!!! I am so excited for that! I feel like shrieking like a little school girl every time I think of it. :D

And now I would like to discuss my loathing for the Mac computers I am forced to use in my office at BNFF.

IIIIIIII haaaatttteeeee MACS!! I hate the stupid pop up menu on the bottom. I hate that I do not have a right click button. AND NO the "apple" button is not the same thing!! I like my right click menu. I like my Windows 7. I hate Macs and their resizing function. I hate that they don't have a status bar on the bottom of the internet. I hate that the internet is called Safari (wtf) I hate that to open folders you have to go into Finder (again WTF). I Hate Macs!

*sigh*

have a good day ^_^

Makeover and plans

So this is what I've been working on almost all day. I've been playing around with different layouts, colors and different gadgets. And now you see the end result. :)

I've also been doing some research on stuff to do for my blog such as weekly features and other fun stuff. I'm going to be testing it out next week so let me know what you think. :)

Remember.... pink insulation is not cotton candy

The last book I read was: 1984 by George Orwell
The movie I watch over and over is: Hiyao Miyazaki's Spirited Away
I could never date a guy who: wasn't Vin. Duh!
My friends always make fun of me for: my off-the-wall ideas, practices, and purchases.
If you opened my purse right now, you'd find: wallet, mini umbrella, hair tie(s), eyeliner stick, liquid eyeliner, lip gloss, chap stick, compact foundation, eyeglass cleaner cloth, a few pens, pencil, crossword puzzle book, papers and notes from my internship, and gum (haha it's really not that big of a purse but it fits a lot of tiny stuff ^_^).
I'm deathly afraid of: I wouldn't be that dramatic but I do hate bugs, spiders, and snakes.
The one thing I wish I knew about relationships five years ago that I know now is: that not all men are the same. Some actually do care and aren't out to hurt or control you.
I have this secret dream of becoming: a secret agent super model assassin journalist ^_^
If I could trade lives with another woman for a day, it would be: Jada Pinkett Smith
The one summer fashion trend that you'll never catch me in: Willy Wonka glasses
The one food I simply cannot resist is: mashed potatoes (yum!!)
You'd be shocked to find that I: don't miss be home (but I do miss my mommy)
On a random Saturday afternoon, I can most likely be found: lounging around probably... either on reading or on the computer... and probably trying to convince vin we should go do something (lol)
The best advice I've ever received was: You'll never get anywhere in life if you don't try
The biggest problem facing our country today is: stupidity

Copy and paste

Day 2 of internship consisted of lots of copying and pasting. And a bathroom experience you could add to Stephen King's IT. AND a giant wasp. It wasn't so hot this time thank god! But yah... nothing too exciting at BNFF today.

I've had a bit of a depression sneak up on me. I don't know if it snuck up... It just came very slowly. I think it's just because of the change and the new. I'm not homesick. I just can't seem to find a niche yet. I hate not having a niche! It's gonna get worse when school starts. Hopefully not too bad though and I think the trip to Toronto will help it alot.

Mom told me she's coming in September! That will be great. She'll be here for Homecoming weekend so we can check out the college team together. I've been to a few high school football games before but never a college or even a pro game. Mom's never even been to a live game before. It'll be an experience for sure. I think Marki will be coming too.

Just a few more weeks till school starts. Orientation is next Thursday and my schedule should be finalized by then. I'll let you guys know what classes I'm taking then. I'm so excited for the year to start. Like I said before I'm a little nervous but I think everything will be ok.

Well I'm off... see you tomorrow! yay for the weekend off!!

Day 1 of Internship

So today was  my first day as an intern. And guess what I did? I called too many companies for sponsorship while drowning in my own sweat on the top floor of an old school. And it was awesome! I got to talk to the PR agents of some of the top companies in America. I also got to talk to idiots. But mostly... I had a blast! I was alone most of the day. I think I'm the only one that signed up for this internship. I have yet to see another person besides Mr. Cowell, the founder. I know there is one other person but she is currently away. But, really, I think I'm the only intern. It's weird. But yes! It was awesome! And I'm exhausted from it! I came home, took a shower, watched some tv, and then took a quick nap. *sigh*

Same thing tomorrow I think. I am supposed to be getting an e-mail and I might be setting up sponsorship packets but I can't think of what else I could be doing. I kind of want to get into this grant writing. They are going to need it. And I would love to see what it's like. Well... all in all today was awesome despite the horrible heat.

Maybe I'll post some pictures tomorrow to show you guys where I work.  ^_^

Adios!

oh em gee!! Internship!!

I had an interview this morning for the Buffalo Niagara Film Festival. This is a local festival that is going on its fifth year. They host a lot of independent films and (I believe) this year those films will be eligible to go onto the Oscars. I will basically be doing marketing and whatever else I can do. the founder said that if I wanted to do some of the PR writing later on that I could do that too. I will also have the opportunity to go to meetings with him to see the process of everything. Also!! Gordy Hoffman, the screenwriter brother of Phillip Seymour Hoffman, is going to be hosting a screenwriting workshop and I will have the opportunity to attend!!

The location we're working out of is an hour's drive but it's really not that bad (we'll see about that in winter). Also this is not a paying internship. I will be able to get a percentage of any sponsorship that I bring in but no set pay. I was a little apprehensive about this but when I was told of all the opportunities this would give me there was no way I was going to pass up this opportunity. Hopefully it's not too much grudge work. I'm so excited!!

I'm going to work this till school starts, work through a few weeks of school, and then think about getting another job to supplement some income. :)

So now this blog will include my BNFF adventures as well!! yay!!

My First Post!!

Hi everyone!

I drove into Buffalo, NY yesterday and today is my first full day living in Buffalo. I am here for the next few years with a few occasional breaks to go home. I will be attending Buffalo State College in pursuit of the Writing BA. Right now, I am living with my boyfriend of 2 1/2 years, Vin, and his mother Leah (Thank you soo much Leah for letting me stay with you!!!).

I start school at the end of this month. In the meantime I'm going to be looking for a job, Vin and I will be organizing our room, learning my way around the area, and some last minute shopping.

That's all I have for now. Leave some comments and let me know what you you think I should write about or let me know if I left any thing out.

Bye!
